Blood Orange and Bergamot is a subtly sweet orange that is infused with tangy red grapefruit and hints of tart cherries and raspberries.  Bergamot oranges smell tart, acidic, highly fragrant, and spicy. The leading theory is that the Bergamot orange is cross-bred from a sour orange and citron or lemon.

Fun fact…Bergamot oranges are the flavor profile of earl grey tea, they take the oils from the rinds and this is used in the flavoring of the tea. Named after the city of Bergamo, Italy where it was first sold.

It is known to be a ‘cross-breed’ or hybrid of bitter orange and lime.
